The Lady Patriots earned their opportunity to compete for the NCCAA Regional Championship in
Denver, Colorado , after winning Friday night over Mid-America Christian. Lady Patriot Ally Bales scored three goals in the win with two coming in the second half. Freshman Hope Adams added another to give the Lady Patriots a 4-0 victory and advance them to play in the championship game.
The NCCAA Regional Championship was played Saturday afternoon. The Lady Patriots were matched up against the Colorado Christian University Cougars.
The match was tied at the half 0-0 with neither team able to capitalize on the 14 combined shots between the Lady Patriots and Cougars.
Cougar Midfielder Samantha Dean scored early in the second half to put CCU in front of the Lady Patriots 1-0. DBU had a few good chances late to put one away, but CCU goalie Alison Cox made two crucial saves to deny the Lady Patriots of a goal and keep the Cougars on top. The Cougars stood strong and held the Lady Patriots off to finish the match 1-0.
With the loss, the Lady Patriots fall short of receiving a bid to compete for the NCCAA National Championship in
Orlando, Florida . DBU finishes off the season with a season record of 9-9-1, and 6-5-1 in Heartland Conference play.
