The Lady Patriots Drop Match to St. Edwards University

The Lady Patriots hosted the St. Edward's University Hilltoppers Saturday afternoon in the final regular season match for both teams.

The afternoon started with Senior recognition for the Lady Patriots before kickoff. Then the whistle blew to begin the game, and there was nonstop action throughout the rest of the day.

The first half was a tough battle for both teams. The Hilltoppers had two corner kicks in the closing minutes of the half, where strong defensive play from the Lady Patriots prevented a possible goal scoring opportunity as the ball was cleared from danger.

The Lady Patriots and Hilltoppers were locked up at a 0-0 tie going into the second half.  The score suddenly changed when SEU's Stacey Copeland scored in the 66th minute, with assist coming from Jordan Mobley.

Before the Lady Patriots could get back to their feet, SEU's Jordan Mobley put another in the back of the net barely beating Lady Patriot Freshman goalie Haley Corbell (3 total saves) with a long shot.

The Lady Patriots finished off the regular season 6-5-1 in Heartland Conference play and 8-8-1 for the season.

DBU is back in action for post-season play as they travel to Colorado Christian University November 21 - 22.  The Lady Patriots will be competing in the NCCAA Women's Soccer 2008 Central Region Championship Tournament.  DBU's first game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on November 21.  The winner of the regional tournament will have the opportunity to play for the NCCAA National Championship.
