Game one of the day saw the Bears jump out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning after the lead off hitter reached base on an error by DBU's first baseman. The second batter of the inning walked and then a double down the left field line allowed the base runners to score the two runs.
The Bears padded their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after two lead off walks, a sacrifice bunt to move the base runners to second and third base, and then a ground out to the shortstop allowed the lone run to score, giving them a 3-0 advantage.
DBU cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning after Junior Brandon Bantz walked and advanced to third on a single by Sophomore Austin Knight. Junior Clay Kelly then walked to load the bases, which brought up Sophomore Ryan Enos, who hit an RBI fielder's choice ground ball to second base.
