Box Score

The Patriots Baseball Team secured their fifth straight victory on Tuesday night riding the right arms of starting pitcher Sophomore Victor Black and relief pitchers Freshman Chris Haney and Senior Tyson Bagley.  The three pitchers combined to throw 9.0 innings allowing one run, on five hits, and striking out 10.

The 2-1 victory over the University of Louisiana-Monroe improved the Patriots record to 21-9, while ULM fell to 20-10.

ULM took the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after they led the inning off with a single and a walk.  Then with two outs in the inning hit a single up the middle to drive in their only run of the game.

DBU waited till the top of the eighth inning to get on the score board.  Sophomore Ryan Enos started the rally with a double down the left field line and advanced to third on a ground out by Sophomore Austin Knight.  Enos scored the Patriots first run when Junior Evan Bigley reached base on an error by ULM's third baseman.  Senior Drew Pirtle singled through the right side to advance Bigley to third base and Goins singled up the middle to score Bigley, which gave DBU a 2-1 lead.

Haney had entered the game for the Patriots at this point and shut ULM down over 2.1 innings of work to pick up his fourth victory of the season.  Haney allowed two hits, no runs, and struck out three, while Bagley picked up his seventh save of the season after he pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing no hits, no runs, and striking out one.

Enos continues to swing a hot bat after he went three for four, with a run scored to lead the way at the plate.  Goins finished his night two for four, with an RBI, while four other Patriots had at least one hit.

DBU will finish up their two game series with ULM on Wednesday afternoon when they play them at 3:00.
