DBU's Soccer Team improved to 3-1 in conference play and 4-3 overall after they defeated Texas A&M International, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Dustdevils fell to 1-9 and 0-4.
Sophomore Ally Bales led the Lady Patriots to victory by scoring three of DBU's four goals. The hat trick is the first of Bales career. Freshman Kourtney Edward's scored the fourth goal for the Lady Patriots.
Bales started off the scoring in the 16th minute after she kicked one in from 15 yards out off a pass from Junior Sarah Meierhofer. Edward's put the Patriots up 2-0 when she scored her first collegiate goal on a deflection off the post.
TAMIU scored their first goal in the 38th minute to make the score 2-1 going into halftime. It did not take Bales long to score her second goal of the game after she connected on a 20 yard shot in the 55th minute, pushing the lead to 3-1.
Ten minutes later Bales put the game out of reach for the Dustdevils after she scored from inside the box. TAMIU scored a late goal off a goalie deflection.
Goalkeepers Freshman Hayley Corbell and Junior Emily Evans played well in goal for DBU, with Corbell saving three shots. The Lady Patriots defense was strong once again only allowing five shots on goal.
DBU will be in action again on September 30, when they travel to Denton, Texas, to play TWU. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00.
