The Lady Patriot Soccer Team picked up their second consecutive win on Tuesday evening, with a 4-0 victory over the University of Texas Permian Basin. The win also marks the second straight Heartland Conference victory of the season. With the win, DBU improves to 4-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
After a scoreless first half, Senior
Chelsea Smith gave the Lady Patriots a 1-0 lead when her shot found the back of the net in the 48th minute of the second half. On the ensuing play, Senior Ally Bales' penalty kick was blocked by the UTPB goalkeeper, but a DBU cross off the rebound found an open Smith in the box for her first goal of the season.
In the 73rd minute, DBU took a 2-0 lead when Junior
Hope Adams scored her first goal of the season. Freshman Kelsi Hall picked up the assist on the play.
Bales drove her fourth goal of the season past the goalkeeper in the 79th minute, and another goal by Adams in the 88th minute secured the second Heartland Conference win for the Lady Patriots.
DBU will host Newman University at Patriot Field this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
