The Dallas Baptist University Lady Patriot Soccer Team defeated the Lady Falcons from the University of Texas - Permian Basin on Thursday night by the score of 5-1 for their fourth consecutive win. With the win, DBU improves their overall season record to 6-8, and their Heartland Conference record to 4-2.
It was an action packed first half, but neither team was able to score a goal as the game headed into halftime scoreless, 0-0. The Lady Patriots were able to create numerous scoring opportunities in the first half, but the UTPB goalkeeper made excellent saves to keep the Lady Falcons in the game.
The Lady Patriots came out strong in the second half and pushed the Lady Falcons back on their heels when Junior
Kourtney Edwards blasted a header into the back of the net off a Senior Ally Bales cornerkick to end the games scoring drought giving DBU the lead, 1-0. Edwards has three goals on the season.
UTPB was able to score on a quick rebound soon after to tie the game 1-1 before Junior
Brittany Layne scored two goals of her own, her sixth and seventh goal of the season, to help DBU regain the lead, 3-1, midway through the second half.

Hope Adams was able to get around the edge of the UTPB defense and chip the ball over the Lady Falcon goalkeeper to score her fourth goal of the season. Bales added the fifth and final Lady Patriot goal of the game when she drilled a volley into the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season off of a Junior
Hope Adams cross.
The Lady Patriots are back in action on Saturday, October 23, as they travel to Austin, Texas to take on St. Edward's University. The game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
