The Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Volleyball Team lost their third game in a row Tuesday night, falling 2-3 to Texas Woman's University. The Lady Patriots are now 9-12 overall on the season, but remain 3-1 in the Heartland Conference.
DBU won the opening set 26-24, but fell in the second, 16-25, after the Pioneers scored seven straight points to put the set out of reach for the Lady Patriots. Another tough loss in the third set, 10-25, gave the Pioneers a 2-1 advantage.
The Lady Patriots found themselves trailing 4-8 in the third, but chipped away at the Pioneer lead to tie the game at 16 apiece. DBU used a game high .273 hitting percentage in the set to win 25-23, forcing a fifth set tie-breaker.
With the score tied at 6-6 in the fifth, TWU scored four straight points to take a 10-6 lead. The Pioneers never relinquished their lead, as DBU fell 10-15.
The Lady Patriots were led by Sophomore
Becky Swann who ended the match with 13 kills. Sophomore
Christina Steinkruger had 11 kills and nine digs. Freshmen
Tyler Bradsher and
Lauren Pavloske led the Lady Patriots defensively, finishing with 14 and 13 digs, respectively.
DBU will return to Heartland Conference action on Thursday, as they travel to Laredo, Texas, to face Texas A&M International. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
