The 2010 Patriot Tennis campaign kicked off this past week with two matches held on the Dallas Baptist University campus.  In the opening match, the Patriots faced the 20th ranked Aggies from Cameron University.

The number one team of Richard Abel and Bronson Vaughn and the number three team of Phillip Allen and Justin Hanna both held leads in the opening match. However, the Aggies stormed back, and eventually prevailed, taking all three of the doubles points.

In singles action, the Patriots once again found themselves evenly matched with their opponents, led by great performances by Seniors Josh King and Bronson Vaughan at the one and two singles position. However, the Aggies again finished strong, winning all six singles matches and taking the overall match 9-0.

On February 16, the Patriots were able to protect their home court against the University of Texas- Dallas Comets in commanding fashion with an 8-1 victory. The tone was set early with great doubles play as DBU quickly swept all three matches led by Josh King and Nick French who came through with a big 8-3 victory at the second position.

DBU carried the momentum into singles play against the Comets where they picked up five of the six matches. Bronson Vaughan once again turned in a great performance as he quickly shut-out his opponent 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Phillip Allen also received his first collegiate win in convincing fashion with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the sixth position.

The Patriots are now 1-1 on the year and look to improve on that Wednesday, February 17 in Sherman, Texas as the take on the Austin College Roos.
