Patriots Drop Game Two Against Cougars, 5-2

After defeating Washington State yesterday, the Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team dropped their second game against the Cougars on Wednesday evening by the score of 5-2. The Patriots held a 2-1 lead heading into the ninth, but gave up four runs on three hits for the loss.

Junior Brandon Williamson pitched eight strong innings, allowing one run on six hits, and striking out six.

After the Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on a RBI single, the Patriots evened the game after Freshman Duncan McAlpine singled through the right side, scoring Junior Jason Krizan who had reached on a single of his own. DBU added another run later in the inning after Senior Travis Meiners scored on a bases loaded walk by Junior Ryan Thompson.

Still trailing 2-1 in the top of the ninth, the Cougar rally began after Cody Bartlett reached when he was hit by a pitch. The Cougars followed with a single and a walk to load the bases with no outs. Derek Jones then delivered a three RBI double to clear the bases, and give the Cougars the 5-2 win.

The Patriots will be back in action tomorrow, March 18, as they welcome the Lafayette Leopards to Patriot Field. The first pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
