The Dallas Baptist Lady Patriot Soccer Team faced the undefeated Lions from Texas A&M-Commerce on Tuesday evening, after last week's match was rescheduled due to rain. After 90 minutes of play, and one overtime period, neither team was able to score. The Lady Patriots finally found the back of the net in the first minute of the second overtime period for their first win of the season. DBU is now 1-2 overall.
In the first minute of the second overtime period, Junior
Brittany Layne fought for possession on the Lion side of the field, earning the Lady Patriots only their second corner kick of the game. Senior Ally Bales played the corner, placing it on the back side of the Lion goal. Junior
Kourtney Edwards battled for position and headed in the game-winning goal, her first of the season.
The Lady Patriots will return action at Patriot Field this Thursday, as they host the Wildcats from Abilene Christian University. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
