Patriots Fall to Missouri State

Box Score

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team dropped their second game of the UTA Invitational against Missouri State on Friday afternoon by the score of 17-3. The loss drops the Patriots to 4-2 overall on the season.

Senior Jason Krizan drove in the game's first run in the opening inning, with his double that scored Senior Tyler Robbins. Unfortunately for the Patriots, Krizan's seventh RBI of the season would give DBU their only lead of the day, 1-0.

Missouri State would go on to score two runs in each of the first, second, and third innings, before breaking the game open with a five-run fourth. The Bears used eight hits to score 11 runs in the first four innings of action, chasing two Patriot pitchers from the mound.

Prior to the Bears outbreak in the bottom of the fourth, Robbins pushed the Patriots' second run across the plate with his sacrifice fly with the bases loaded. Junior Landon Anderson, who had reached on a fielder's choice and advanced on a pair of walks, scored to make it a 6-2 game.

After a scoreless fifth by both teams, DBU added another run in the top of the sixth. Anderson doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Senior Josh Wilson, making it an 11-3 game.

Missouri State tacked on another run in the bottom of the inning, followed by four in the seventh and a final run in the eighth, as they ran away with the 17-3 game.

Sophomore Stuart Pudenz was dealt the loss for the Patriots as he pitched one and a third innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits.

The Patriots will face South Dakota State tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m. in their final game of the UTA Invitational at Clay Gould Park.
