The Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team captured the rubber match against Binghamton University on Monday afternoon, defeating the Bearcats, 6-0, at Patriot Field. The win improves DBU to 13-7 on the season.
Junior
Jordan Staples picked up the win for the Patriots after pitching five and two-thirds innings, allowing no runs, two hits, and striking out three.
After three scoreless innings, the Patriots scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Junior
Ryan Behmanesh reached on a leadoff walk to start the inning, and Junior
Kenny Hatcher was hit by a pitch to give the Patriots runners on first and second with no outs. After both men advanced on a sacrifice bunt from Sophomore

Joel Hutter capitalized on the situation and drove in the first run of the game with a RBI single.
Senior
Josh Wilson then made it a 2-0 game in favor of the Patriots after scoring Hatcher with a RBI groundout.
The Patriots doubled their score in the bottom of the fifth, thanks to a RBI single from Senior
Tyler Robbins. After Sophomore
Austin Elkins led off the inning with a single and then stole second, Robbins made it a 3-0 game with a single, picking up his 11th RBI of the season. Senior
Jason Krizan singled to advance Robbins to third, and Behmanesh delivered his ninth RBI of the season with a single through the left side.
With the bases loaded in the sixth, the Bearcats walked in a run for the Patriots, making it a 5-0 lead.
The final run of the day came in the bottom of the eighth off the bat of Krizan. After Elkins reached on a walk and then advanced to second on a Patriot groundout, Krizan doubled to right center to give DBU the 6-0 win.
The Patriots will host Texas Tech University tomorrow evening. Game time against the Red Raiders is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
