The Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team defeated Alcorn State in Friday's doubleheader at Patriot Field, defeating the Braves 16-0 in game one and 12-0 in game two. The Patriots improve to 36-15 on the season with the wins.

Dallas Baptist Senior Jason Krizan broke the NCAA Division I single-season doubles record with his 37th double of the season in his first at-bat of the second game, surpassing the previous record of 36 shared by three others. LSU's Brad Hawpe accomplished the feat most recently, in 2000, joining Rice's Damon Thames, in 1998, and Florida State's Jeremy Morris, in 1996. Krizan was able to break the mark in only 51 games, where the previous record holders needed 69, 63, and 69 games, respectively. With five games still remaining on their 2011 regular season schedule, Krizan will have the opportunity to extend his record-setting mark.

Krizan is also riding a DBU record, 38 game hitting streak, hitting safely in every game the Patriots have played since March 10, 2011.

The Senior, from Pflugerville, Texas, is leading a high-powered offense that ranks in the top ten in eight different statistical categories. Out of 300 NCAA Division I baseball programs, DBU ranks second in scoring (9.0), third in runs (389), third in slugging percentage (.51), fourth in walks (239), and sixth in homeruns (50).

As of Thursday, May 13, Krizan ranks first in doubles (37), first in doubles per game (.74), tenth in on-base percentage (.521), sixth in slugging percentage (.744), third in on-base plus slugging (1.265), seventh in average (.432), eighth in runs (56), second in hits (86), fourth in RBI (64), and second in total bases (148), in all of NCAA Division I according to Boyd's World.

In game one, Krizan went 2-4, with 5 RBI, including a three run homerun. In game two, Krizan was 2-4, with his record breaking RBI double and another three-run homerun, giving him 9 RBI on the day.

Senior Jared Stafford pitched a complete game in the Patriots' 16-0 victory, allowing only three hits while striking out four. In game two, Junior Jordan Staples also threw a complete game, allowing only two hits while striking out eight batters.

The Patriots will look to complete the sweep of Alcorn State on Saturday afternoon with game four of the series. The first pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m.
