Landon Anderson drove in the go-ahead run in sixth, securing the 3-2 victory for the Patriots. With the win, the Patriots improve to 41-17.
For the second day in a row, the Patriots got on the board early as Junior
Ryan Behmanesh singled up the middle with one out in the first to record his 72nd hit of the season. One batter later, Behmanesh scored from second base on a passed ball, giving the Patriots the 1-0 lead. In the top of the second inning, Senior
Jared Stafford and the Patriot defense forced Taylor Featherston of TCU to ground in to a double play, ending the inning.
The Patriots came out hot again in the bottom of the third inning as Freshman
KJ Alexander reached on a walk. One batter later, Senior
Tyler Robbins laid down a stellar sacrifice bunt that advanced Alexander to second base. With one runner on and two outs, Senior
Jason Krizan stepped up to the plate and drilled a double off the left field wall to record his NCAA leading 39th double of the season, scoring Alexander to give the Patriots the 2-0 outright lead.
The Horned Frogs fired back in the top of fifth inning as Featherston drove in Josh Elander from first base on a triple down the left field line. One batter later, TCU's Brett Johnson recorded another RBI for the Horned Frogs on a slow rolling ground ball to second base to level the score 2-2.
The Patriots fired back in the bottom of the sixth inning as Junior
Joel Hutter doubled down the right field line. Anderson provided the go-ahead RBI on his third hit of the Regional Tournament with a line shot up the middle to score Hutter from second base, giving DBU the 3-2 advantage.
The Patriots were able to hold the Horned Frogs for two innings as Senior
Jared Stafford pitched eight and one third magnificent innings, only allowing two runs on three hits. Stafford also recorded two strikeouts on the night as he picked up his ninth win of the season.
Coming off a brilliant outing in Friday night's win over the University of Oklahoma, Senior
Chris Haney entered Saturday night's game looking for his second consecutive save of the Regional Tournament. With two outs and one runner on in the ninth, Haney blew a 95 mph fastball past the Horned Frog batter to capture his 14th save on the season, giving the Patriots their second consecutive NCAA Regional victory.
The Patriots will be back in action Sunday night at Lupton Stadium as they will face the winner of the 2:00 p.m. game between the TCU and Oral Roberts University.
