Patriots Earn Seventh Straight Win

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Women's Soccer Team scored a single goal in each half, cruising to a 2-0 win at St. Mary's University, Saturday. The win is the Patriots seventh consecutive as they move to 11-2-0 overall, 5-1-0 in Heartland Conference play.

Just under 14 minutes into the contest, Lindsey Eccles opened the scoring for the Patriots, striking a shot to the high right corner for her seventh goal of the season, assisted by Lea Sedwick.

Sedwick tallied the second half goal, scoring from 20 yards out, on an assist by Dixie Kurrus. Sedwick now leads the team with 10 goals on the year. The sophomore tallied three of the team's eight shots, with six of the team shots on goal.

St. Mary's (6-6-0, 1-5-0 Heartland) took seven shots, all on goal. Kerry Edwards earned her sixth shutout of the season with six saves, moving to 11-2-0. The Rattlers' Alyssa Taramona recorded four saves in the loss (3-2-0).

The Patriots will take a short layoff, not playing for a week, before hosting Newman University, Saturday, Oct. 13, at Patriot Field. That game is scheduled for 12 p.m.
