Freshman
Lindsey Eccles scored a pair of goals as the Dallas Baptist Patriot Women's Soccer team defeated Texas Woman's University, 3-1, Saturday evening in Denton. The 15
th-ranked Patriots move to 2-0-0 early on in 2012, while TWU drops their first competition of the new season.
Similar to Thursday's opener, the Patriots did not wait long to get on the board, as
Lea Sedwick scored in the 14
th minute, assisted by
Danielle Presley and
Ashley Cox. Eccles recorded her first tally of the evening less than seven minutes later, knocking in a header, once again assisted by Presley.
The Patriots extended their lead to three early in the second half, as Eccles scored unassisted, her third goal in two games. The Pioneers tallied their lone goal with less than seven minutes remaining, as Emily Davila scored on the assist from Brittany Martin.
The Patriots took 16 shots, 11 of them on goal. Lindsey Sisco started in goal for TWU, allowing all three goals and recording two saves, before being lifted for Beatrice Soto, who made six saves in 36 minutes in goal. For DBU,
Kerry Edwards turned away two shots, while allowing the one Pioneer goal.
Following the Labor Day holiday, DBU will return to Patriot Field, Wednesday, hosting Texas A&M Commerce University at 7 p.m.
