Women's Soccer Hosts Heartland Match Against St. Mary's

DALLAS – The Dallas Baptist Women's Soccer Team continues its longest home stand of the year on Saturday against St. Mary's University. Start time is slated to be around 7:30 pm following the Men's Soccer Team game, which also opposes the Rattlers. DBU (5-5-1, 2-1) enters at .500 overall and hopes conference play swings momentum in its favor after posting a 9-1 record last year.

PREVIOUS OUTING – A pair of goals by senior Danielle Presley and sophomore Jessica Salas powered a 22 shot performance by the Dallas Baptist Women's Soccer Team to a 4-0 victory over Oklahoma Christian.

Salas's goals were the first of her career in a Patriot jersey, and Presley pushed her season total of goals to six to claim a team lead.

Junior Kerry Edward's earned a save to move her 18 away from 200 in her career. It was also the Flower Mound, Texas, native's fourth shutout on the year.

SCOUTING ST. MARY'S  – The Rattlers, (6-5-1, 3-1) winners of three of four, enter Saturday's nightcap coming off a 3-0 victory at Texas-Permian Basin. The win evens St. Mary's road record 1-1 on its current four game road trip.

The team leads the Heartland Conference, scoring 29 times and is led by Kaitie Kasperitis with eight goals and 17 points. Kristal Williams is part of a quartet of Rattlers with three goals, but her team-leading five assists land her second in points with 11.

Last season DBU won both matchups 2-0 in Heartland Conference play at each venue. Current sophomores Lindsey Eccles and Dixie Kurrus scored in the first match-up and Edwards tallied six saves in her sixth shutout at the time.

Back in Dallas, the Patriots concluded its regular season in the midst of a 14-game winning streak against St. Mary's with victory 12 in the stretch. Eccles and Kurrus had a hand in this one as well, teaming up for the goal and assist, respectively. Edwards earned her ninth shutout.

WORTH NOTING – Here are some other quick notes for Patriot's Women Soccer.
  • The remainder of October features all home Dallas Baptist matches in the friendly confines of Patriots Soccer Field.
  • The Patriots finish the regular season against Heartland Conference teams.
  • Presley has scored five of her six goals this season in conference games.
