No. 15 DBU Secures 2-0 Win Over Regis

THE RUNDOWN
No. 15 DBU picked up their second straight win to open the 2025 season, defeating Regis 2-0 on Saturday night at Mercy Street Soccer Complex in Dallas. Behind second-half goals from Angelina Olmos and Anne Louthan, the Patriots found their rhythm offensively while the back line delivered a dominant defensive effort to shut down the Rangers' attack.

The two sides battled to a scoreless draw through the opening 45 minutes, with both defenses holding firm. DBU broke through early in the second half when Olmos netted the game's first goal in the 49th minute. The scoring chance developed at midfield, where Riley Olson flicked a header forward to spring Olmos into open space. From there, the senior forward raced past the Regis defense and cut to her right, slipping the ball past goalkeeper Helen Strenger for the 1-0 lead.

The Patriots doubled their advantage in the 77th minute thanks to McKenna Vela, whose speed down the right flank forced Regis into a costly mistake. Vela's burst into the 18-yard box drew a foul from center back Brielle Bickham, setting up a penalty kick. Louthan calmly buried the PK into the left corner, pushing the DBU lead to 2-0.

From there, the Patriot defense sealed the win, holding the Rangers to just seven total shots on the night and denying them any clear scoring chances.
