DALLAS – The Dallas Baptist Women's Soccer Team looks to extend its season-high winning streak with the near conclusion of the longest home stand on the campaign. DBU (7-5-1) has won three straight matches, all counting for shutouts. The squad is 3-1 its current stretch at Patriots Soccer Field, only falling in the opening match 1-0 to Southwest Oklahoma State. Since then, DBU has won all its contests and outscored opponents 8-0.
PREVIOUS OUTING – Saturday's game against Newman University was cancelled due to inclement weather near the end of the first half. Makeup has yet to be announced. The Patriots did hold a 1-0 lead off
Lea Sedwick's first goal of the season before play got stalled.
ASHLEY COX RECOGNIZED – As mentioned previously, the Midlothian, Texas, native had a productive week for Dallas Baptist and was awarded the Heartland Offensive Player of the Week. Cox contributed in three of the team's four scores this week with two goals and an assist.
On Saturday, the forward attempted a game-high seven shots and placed four on goal. She was involved in both goals that resulted in a 2-0 victory topping St. Mary's. She added a goal off two shot attempts that led DBU to a 2-0 win on Monday versus TAMIU. The team is 5-0 when Cox scores in the match.
SCOUTING ROGERS STATE – RSU won in its last matchup on Saturday, knocking off Oklahoma Christian 3-1. The Cats are 3-10-1 overall and 2-5 in Heartland Conference play, but have won two of their last three games.
Rogers States had three different players score in its most recent victory, and goalkeeper Jordan Harris tallied 10 saves. Two second half goals for the Cats by Melissa Subu and Tara Garrett added to an already one goal staked lead to preserve a win.
The squads did not meet last season.
