MacDonald and DBU's Defense Top Rogers State

Box Score

DALLAS – A pair of goals by sophomore Emilie MacDonald were enough as the Dallas Baptist Women's Soccer Team continues its dominant play in Heartland play on this season-long home stand. Rogers State (3-9-1, 2-6) was the latest victim of DBU's shutout streak with a 2-0 final in favor of the Patriots on Monday. Dallas Baptist (8-5-1, 5-1) has won four straight matches, all conference, and has done so holding opponents scoreless for 379 minutes.

Most of the game was in control by the Patriots, with the home squad firing 22 shots in the first half and five corner kicks. The Hillcats were unable to attempt a shot, but the game remained scoreless at halftime.

MacDonald put DBU on the board in the 47th minute scoring on a pass from Danielle Presley. The native from Cedar Hill, Texas managed to add a consecutive goal at the 58:50 mark on a one timer to the left side of the goal. It brought the rookie's season total to three, and was possible on assists from the junior duo Lea Sedwick and Jessica Salas.

A season best 37 shots were tallied, 15 for shots on goal, with several Patriot players pounding the ball on the net for the offense. Senior Danielle Presley led the onslaught with seven shots and five for on goal. MacDonald followed with six and shot .500 SOG percentage. Other players to notch multi-shot attempts included: Sedwick with five, sophomore Ashley Cox and Junior Courtney Baxter with four, and sophomore Dixie Kurrus and freshman Rebecca Kernen with three.

Junior Kerry Edwards (8-5-1) earned the win with another 90 minute shutout to add to her season total of seven.

Jordan Harris (1-9-1) was saddled with the loss allowing a pair of goals, but did grab 12 saves on a busy afternoon in the net.

Head Coach Michelle Lenard knows the value of these wins in the team's latest stretch.

"Each of these games are so important right now and it's great to get the result we needed tonight," Lenard states. "We received very good goals from Emilie and a nice defensive effort from the team as well."

Dallas Baptist concludes its home slate of the regular season with a make-up match against Newman University on Thursday. Time is still to be determined.
