BACK ON THE COURT – The Dallas Baptist Men's Basketball Team (4-3, 1-0) continues its home stand on Saturday meeting another Heartland Conference foe, Texas-Permian Basin. Tip-off is slated for 2 PM, as the Patriots look to extend their four-game winning-streak at home.

Saturday's afternoon contest continues a three-game home stretch in the Burg Center and is the second game of three played in a six-day span.

MOST RECENT ACTION – On Thursday, DBU held off a late comeback by Lubbock Christian to claim a 61-59 victory in the Heartland Conference opener. The Patriots jumped out to an early 11-2 lead in the first five minutes and would eventually take a 35-20 advantage into the locker room at the half.

Not feeling dismayed, the Chaps quickly opened the second half on an 11-2 run, narrowing the deficit to six.  LCU continued to chip away at the Patriot lead and with 1:39 remaining, the Chaps tied the game at 57.

The Patriots leading scorer on the season, redshirt sophomore, Jonathan Perry, who was quiet most of the night with six points, made a layup to put the Patriots up 59-57 with 1:27 left.  Senior Cory Carden and sophomore, Jason Gentry, hit one of two free throws apiece and LCU would watch a last attempted three miss its mark to end regulation.

Junior, Wesley Gipson, poured in a career-high 19 points, eclipsing his season best 17 points in the home opener this season. Senior, Remy Ndiay, was the other Patriot to break double figures in scoring with 16 points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Matching the forward on the boards was junior, Charles Allen.

AT THE BURG CENTER – Early in this young campaign, DBU has taken advantage of a heavy home slate in the schedule.  Seven of its first 10 games are slotted at the Burg Center, with one of the road contests counting as an exhibition. With two of games remaining, the Patriots will look to build on its early fortune of playing in front of the home crowd.

Since dropping the season opener by a point 78-77 against East Texas Baptist, DBU has won four in a row and is averaging 83.3 points per game (ppg) during that winning span.  In their first victory of the season, the Patriots scored a season-high 93 points over Dallas Christian College.

Homecoming was the Patriots' best shooting performance as a team, pouring on 90 points at a 53-percent rate from the floor (27-51), while knocking down a season best 52-percent (16-31) behind the arc.

Three days later, DBU had another feat to add to the program's history books when Jonathan Perry poured in a single-game school record 47 points to lift DBU to an 89-80 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS – Texas-Permian Basin enters winners of its last two contests, and is 6-2 on the campaign. The Falcons travel to Dallas, Texas, for the second of a three-game road trip. The last time on the hardwood, UTPB prevailed 82-77 at NCAA Division I program, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

In the upset, UTPB was led by Anthony Dese with 24 points, including four three pointers. Trailing 37-35 at halftime, the Falcons would hang tough forcing 12 lead changes and 11 ties, before holding on late at the end.

A quartet of UTPB players reached double figures in scoring, led by Dese.  Phadarius Taylor contributed 12, while Dwayne Soders and Thomas Feeney added 11 each.  As a squad, UTPB shot 45-percent (23-51) from the floor and 40-percent (8-20) from behind the arc.  The Falcons also won the battle on the boards 37-34.

Saturday's tip-off marks the Heartland Conference opener for Texas-Permian Basin, while the Patriots are 1-0 after Thursday's win. The programs met twice last year, with DBU taking both games at each venue.

In the Burg Center, the Patriots rolled to their largest victory margin of the campaign with a 89-62 final.  Senior, Nick Fox, boasted 23 points to lead the way.  A trio of Patriots also clinched double-digits in the scoring column including: Allen with 20, Carden, and Perry with 11 and 10, respectively.

DBU shot 59-percent (35-59) from the floor and a staggering 70-percent (16-23) behind three-point land.  The Patriots also outscored the Falcons 49-34 in the second frame of the route.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE – The Dallas Baptist home stand concludes on Monday in a rescheduled non-conference affair with Texas A&M-Commerce.  Scheduled tip is set at 4 PM.  Following Monday's game, DBU sets out on a three-game road trip, starting Dec. 21 with an exhibition at Oral Roberts.
