Women's Soccer Shuts Out Texas Woman's University

Box Score

DALLAS – It was an overall good night for the Dallas Baptist Woman's Soccer team in a controlling 3-0 win over Texas Woman's Tuesday night. The Patriots (3-2-1) rise back over .500 while the Pioneers (3-4-1) snap a three game unbeaten streak. DBU is 3-1 in its last four contests and have posted back-to-back shutouts at Patriot Soccer Field.

DBU scored quickly in the fifth minute when junior, Megan McDermand, netted her first goal of the season. Sophomore Dixie Kurrus gave the assist.

It remained 1-0 for most of the half until an excellent combination of passes resulted in sophomore Ashley Cox punching in the score. The Midlothian, Texas, native recorded her second goal of the campaign.

The play began following a TWU foul with junior Jake Cox punting the free kick across the field from the right side to senior Danielle Presley. The Forward's header was a pass back across from the left side, and Cox finished with a shot beating the keeper far right.

At halftime the score favored DBU 2-0.

Presley's first goal of the season occurred at the 81:52 minute mark off an assist from Annie Wells to wrap out a strong offensive night for the Patriots. DBU outshot the opposition 22-0 and held the edge on corner kicks 9-1.

Junior Kerry Edwards (3-2-1) earned the win preserving her third shutout of the season in a stifling defensive effort.

Lindsey Sisco (1-3) took the loss allowing three goals and grabbing eight saves in 90 minutes in the net.

Sixth year Head Coach, Michelle Lenard, was pleased with how the team played. "We were able to get into a rhythm early and create good chances," Coach Lenard stated. "It's nice to get goals from three different players as well."

Dallas Baptist hosts Heartland rival, St. Edward's, in a non-conference contest on Saturday at 1 pm.
