THE LEADStaying undefeated at The Burg Center and extending their win streak to six games this season, the Dallas Baptist Volleyball Team defeated Oklahoma Panhandle State in a sweep, 3-0. The Lady Patriots had a trio of match highs with
Jenna Elkins notching eight kills and four blocks,
Austin Roberts with 14 assists, and
Brooke Manley adding 11 digs.
In the first set of the evening, the Lady Patriots built an early lead going up by as much as six points, 10-4. As the set continued, the Aggies tried to close the gap trailing , 15-13 by mid-set. DBU would take advantage of multiple errors by OPSU to pull ahead, 19-13. Hitting for a match high .281 during the set, the Lady Patriots looked to close out the Aggies scoring six of the final eight points. DBU would win the first set 25-15, taking a 1-0 match lead.
Knotted at 5-5 early in the second set, that would be the closest DBU allowed OPSU for the rest of the set. Ignited by a kill from
Darian Stuckly, the Lady Patriots blew by the Aggies. A combination of kills and a service ace allowed DBU to put together a lead that included a four point rally to gain a 14-8 advantage. Up 15-11 late in the set, the Lady Patriots made quick work of the Aggies scoring the final ten points of the second set, winning 25-11, taking a 2-0 match lead.
With some fight left in them, Oklahoma Panhandle started the third set with a 7-0 lead to the surprise of DBU. Not wanting to let OPSU gain anymore momentum, a
Jenna Elkins kill helped start a run, en route to the Lady Patriots tying the set 12-12. A kill by
Madeline Dolberry gave DBU a 13-12 lead, which extended to 17-12. From there the Lady Patriots remained in control of the third set, easing to a 25-20 win, sealing a 3-0 match victory.
