DBU and St. Mary's are vying for the top spot in the Heartland Conference with jus t two games remaining until the Heartland Conference tournament bracket is set. The Patriots and Rattlers face off at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, at Patriot Soccer Field.
HEARTLAND CONFERENCE WEEKLY HONORSenior forward Ashely Cox was named the Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Cox scored four goals and helped the Patriots to a 2-0 record. The announcement marks the first time in 2015 that Cox has earned Heartland Conference Player of the Week honors and is the third time in her illustrious career.
ACKERLY AND COMPANY CONTINUE TO DOMINATEThe DBU defense, led by senior goalkeeper
Jenna Ackerly, has allowed just four goals in the last nine matches, the second fewest. In that time, the Patriots have recorded five shutouts and an 8-0-1 record. Ackerly paces the Heartland Conference in save percentage (.906) and shutouts per game (.600) this season.

SCOUTING THE RATTLERSSt. Mary's lost their Heartland Conference opener to Lubbock Christian and responded with five straight wins in the conference by a margin of 16-2. The Rattlers' back-loaded schedule features matches with two road matches against DBU and St.Edward's.
St. Mary's is led on offense by forwards Rachel Gurinsky and Kristal Williams, who have each scored seven goals this season. Gurinsky and Williams rank second and third in the Heartland Conference, respectively, in both goals and points per game.
