THE LEADThe No. 20 Dallas Baptist Baseball Team extended their current win streak to seven with a 6-1 victory over Texas Southern at Horner Ballpark on Friday night.  Patriots' starter,
Cory Taylor, worked six solid innings and allowed just one run, while striking out six to earn his second win of the season.
Drew Smith came out of the pen in the seventh to toss three scoreless frames and earned the third save of his career.

Scoreless into the bottom of the third, DBU (13-2) jumped out to a 1-0 lead when
Trooper Reynolds laced a single to center, driving in
Drew Turbin from third.  Following Reynolds' RBI,
David Martinelli singled up the middle to drive in
Justin Wall and put the Patriots up 2-0.

After Texas Southern (8-9) scored their lone run in the fifth, DBU responded with a run of their own in their half of the inning on an RBI single from
Chane Lynch.  Two innings later in the seventh, Lynch tacked on another run for the Patriots with a base hit to right that plated Reynolds.  The hit was Lynch's sixth of the series and his fourth RBI in the last two games.
A
Daniel Salters triple in the eight led to another run, as Salters came home to score on a wild pitch to make it 6-1 Patriots.

In the ninth with a runner on first and one out,
David Martinelli made the play of the night on a diving catch in right-center that robbed Horrace Leblanc of an extra-base hit.

DBU HEAD COACH, DAN HEEFNER – ON THE STRONG OUTINGS FROM TAYLOR & SMITH"Cory gave us a great start tonight.  He commanded all three pitches and was sharp from the start.  I thought Drew came in and gave us three solid innings as well and he had a great feel for both his fastball and curveball."
