THE LEADA four run ninth inning helped Dallas Baptist to a 6-1 win over Oral Roberts in game one of a double-header at J.L. Johnson Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Saturday afternoon. The win is the second consecutive over the Golden Eagles in a four game series and lifts DBU to an 8-2 start in their first 10 games.
Â
In a scoreless game through the first five innings,
Trooper Reynolds gave the Patriots a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth on an infield single that brought
Camden Duzenack home. The RBI was Reynolds tenth of the weekend, after tying a school record with nine RBI's in Friday night's win over ORU (6-5). With runners on the corners and two outs,
Chane Lynch beat out a possible double play ball, allowing Duzenack to score and putting DBU up 2-0.
Â
After
Landon Wilson worked four shutout innings in his start,
Drew Smith came out of the bullpen to allow just one run over two-and-one-third innings of work. Smith would make his exit in the seventh inning with one out and the tying run at second base. With
Chance Adams taking the baseball, the junior right-hander struck out Audie Afenir and induced a ground ball off the bat of Matt Whatley to get out of the jam.
Â
Holding onto a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth, DBU erupted for a four run inning, as
Nash Knight delivered an RBI single and
Camden Duzenack belted a two run double to highlight the inning.
Â
In the bottom of the ninth, Adams returned to the hill to work a scoreless ninth and earn his first career save in his DBU career. Adams finished the game by throwing two-and-two-third innings without allowing a run.
