THE LEADThe Dallas Baptist Men's Tennis Team would win back-to-back matches over the weekend as they defeated Austin College, 6-3 and Southwestern Christian University, 9-0.
On day one of their back-to-back matches the Patriots traveled to Sherman, TX and faced the Kangaroos of Austin College.
DBU would sweep all three lines of doubles play starting with
Cannon Jones and
Zane Nelson winning No. 1 by a score of 8-1, Bryant and
Leighton Forshee winning No. 2 by a score of 8-5, and
Jake Johnson and
Isaac Childs winning No. 3 by a score of 8-3.
In singles competition against the Kangaroos, the Patriots would take three of the six matches to seal the win. Jones would win 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1, while Nelson and Burch would win No. 3 and No. 5 by scores of 6-1, 6-2 and 6-4, 4-6, 10-2, respectively.
On day two against the Southwestern Christian Eagles, DBU provided a clean sweep in front of family and friends as they celebrated
Bryant Forshee on "Senior Day".
The offensive onslaught would begin with the Patriots dominating doubles play. The No. 1 duo of Jones and Nelson would win 8-3, with the brothers Forshee winning No. 2 by a score of 8-5. Johnson and Childs would make quick work of their opponents serving the Eagles No. 3 squad an 8-0 bagel.
Up 3-0 Dallas Baptist would keep rolling in singles, imposing their will on the Eagles with only one of the six matches reaching three sets.
Jones would come out strong once again in No. 1 winning 6-1, 6-2. In No. 2 Nelson would win by a score of 6-0, 6-1 with Burch claiming No. 3 in three sets 6-0, 5-7, 10-6. Issac Childs would prevail in No. 4 by a score of 7-5, 6-3 with
Jordan Jackson coming out on top in No. 5, 6-0, 6-1.
Senior Bryant Froshee would triumph in No. 6 in two sets by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
