THE LEAD
The DBU Men's Tennis team had a tough loss today against South Central Regional opponent UTPB. While the team could not get a victory to get on the board, there were some signs of good play and fight by the Patriots.

COACH SARAH GRAY ON THIS WEEKENDS COMPETITION
"Today we played a team who has a solid line-up and does the basic things better than we do. We must keep learning that our standard must improve and to continue the process of improvement throughout the course of the season.Â
Cannon Jones at #1 showed his typical great strength and split sets after dropping the first set decisively. Although he didn't get it done in the breaker for the third set, his fight and grit continue to lead our team. Also, positive signs from freshman
Nick Gilmore at the #2 spot. He played a very close and competitive match and dropped it 7-6 (10-8), 7-5 but gained quite a bit of experience. With three freshmen in our line-up, each match is an eye-opening experience and is a tremendous opportunity for them to learn and grow. I'm proud of these guys and am looking forward to two matches in Dallas next weekend."

COACH ALEX SARAH GRAY Â Â
"Men's team fought strong opposition today. They faced a solid line one and three doubles match.
Isaac Childs and Riley smith were down 4-7 and came back to win 9-7. Hardin-Simmons came out with a vengeance in singles.
Nick Gilmore and
Jordan Jackson came back to win the match after losing the first sets. Everyone fought with heart, and gave everything they had."Â
