THE LEAD
No. 17 DBU's bid for a sweep of Air Force fell short in a 6-0 loss Sunday. The Falcons (2-8) scored six times on seven hits to earn their second win of the year.

Peyton Sherlin (0-1) took the loss after starting on short notice when Jordan Martinson was scratched. Sherlin gave up two runs on two hits in three innings with four strikeouts and no walks.

Tyler Zabojnik drove in the first three runs for Air Force, opening the scoring with a solo home run in the first. A third-inning double and a fifth-inning single each plated a run.

Air Force capped its second-highest scoring output of the day with a two-run home run by Ashton Easley. Ryan Holloway (1-0) earned the win for the Falcons with six and two-thirds shutout innings.

The Patriots (6-4) walked eight times and collected four hits – two by Garrett Wolforth and two by Jameson Hannah. Wolforth collected DBU's only extra-base hit, a sixth-inning double.
