THE LEAD
The DBU Men's Tennis team will compete against The University of Texas at Dallas on Thursday afternoon in Richardson, Texas.. The Patriots (9-15) are coming off a 6-1 loss to Heartland Conference opponent St. Edward's.

Against St. Mary's, the Patriots dropped the match at line one in doubles play, but bounced back as Riley Smith and Andrew Hallowell took their match at line three. DBU then lost the point by losing at line two. Grant McKenzie was ahead of his opponent late in the third set at line one but didn't get to finish due to the match being clinched.

SCOUTING UTD
The Comets are 9-1 on the season, and recently defeated McMurry 7-2. The duo of Ashwin Vaithianathan and Haydn Steffes opened the match with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles while the tandem of Eric Chen and Brandon Giordonelli followed quickly with an 8-5 victory at No. 3. Up 2-1 after doubles, Giovanni Zamboni opened singles play with a straight-set win at No. 2 over McMurry's Chase Daniell, 6-0, 6-4. Vaithianathan then lifted the Comets to a 4-1 cushion with a 6-0, 6-2, win over Connor Hogan at No. 3. The War Hawks answered again with a win at No. 1 singles as Carlos Martinez outlasted Mario Jelev, 6-2, 6-4, but the Comets powered back with wins at the three remaining singles spots to seal the team victory. Steffes clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2, win at No. 4 while before Chen (No. 5, 6-1, 6-2) and Jed De Luna (No. 6, 6-3, 2-6, 10-6) added late victories.

DBU will compete on the road in Wichita Falls against Midwestern State on April 12 at 2:00 p.m.
