Patriots Visit Hawaii for Two Game Slate

COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF
The Patriots are coming off a 2-1 win over Oklahoma Baptist marking the first victory of the season. Delaney Schmidt and Kenzie Spodnik each scored as DBU (1-0-1) held off the Bison (1-1) for the remainder of the match.

Schmidt scored the first goal in the 12th minute on an assist from Kaci Parks. The Bison went onto score on a penalty kick to even the match up at 1-1 going into halftime. Brittany Eccles found Kenzie Spodnik in the 68th minute who then buried the go-ahead, and ultimately game-winning goal in the top left corner of the net. DBU outshot the Bison 10-6, and won the total possession battle by 14 percent, 57 to 43.

The Patriots head to Hawaii for a two game set, taking on Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade.

PATRIOT STORYLINES
 - Jayme Woodfill, Delaney Schmidt, Jenna Patterson, Emmy Niece and Kenzie Spodnik have one goal each.

 - Schmidt ranks fourth in the Lone Star Conference in shots taken (8).

 - Woodfill leads the Patriots in goals and assists.

 - The Patriots trip to Hawaii marks the first time in school history.

SCOUTING HAWAII PACIFIC 
- The Sharks, 6-6-6 overall in 2018 and 4-3-4 in the PacWest for seventh place, received 56 total points in the poll for ninth, 13 points ahead of Academy of Art in 10th and four points behind Notre Dame de Namur in eighth.
- Ebony Madrid returns from an All-PacWest year last season.
- Madrid, a 5-3 junior from Porterville, Calif./Ramstein (Germany) HS, was named to the All-PacWest team for the second time with her third team selection. Madrid led the Sharks in total points with 11, leading the squad with five assists and was third on the team with three goals, all three game-winners.

SCOUTING CHAMINADE
- Chaminade is 0-0 on the 2019 season.
- The SilverSwords added five recruits for the season, all from Hawaii.
- The 'Swords lose six seniors from this past season team including all-time leading scorer Caitlin Tatemichi (Honolulu/Roosevelt) but return leading scorers Randi Fontes (Wahiawa, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hawai'i-Manoa/Pearl City) and Sharon Cain (Honolulu/Kamehameha-Kapalama). 

SERIES HISTORY
- The Patriots are 0-0 against both teams.

UP NEXT
DBU hosts Oklahoma Christian in a Lone Star Conference clash. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Patriot Soccer Field.
