The DBU men's lacrosse team defeated Louisiana Tech on Saturday night in overtime by a score of 12-11 to secure their first win on the 2020 season.
Louisiana Tech got off to a quick start, scoring the first five goals of the game. However, the Patriots battled back to get back in the game after goals from attackman
Christian Zarcone (who had two of the three goals) and midfielder Jackson Wood. After a goal late in the second quarter byTech, DBU entered the half down 7-3.
DBU would score twice during the third quarter, both of which were from midfielder Zack Connor. Down 10-5 in the fourth, attackman Chris Winters recorded his first goal of the night to initiate the Patriot comeback with 12:57 left in the game. Connor later his third goal of the game, followed by another from Zarcone (also netting his third goal of the game) to the game within two. After another Tech goal late in the fourth, Wood found a wide-open
Nathan Jones, who scored to game back within two. Zarcone was able to net his 4th goal on the night with 44 seconds left to cut Tech's lead to just one.
With 10 seconds remaining in the game, Wood ran from the far side of the field right past his defender and scored to send the game into overtime. After a couple of missed opportunities, Wood managed to get the game's most important ground ball in the offensive half of the field, and scored in transition to end the game and secure the win for the Patriots.
