Patriots Take Game Two Over Braves, 5-2

THE RUNDOWN
DBU bounced back with a 5-2 win over Bradley in the second game of Friday's doubleheader. The Patriots earned their 30th (30-12) win of the season behind stellar pitching performances from Rhett Kouba and Peyton Sherlin, and a two-run blast from Jackson Glenn.

The Braves struck first with a momentum-stealing big fly on the game's third pitch for an early 1-0 lead. From that point on, Rhett Kouba would collect his composure as well as nine strikeouts through 4.2 innings of work. Offensively, Blayne Jones would bring home Andres Sosa with a sac fly to put the Pats on the board in the bottom of the second.

DBU would take its first lead of the series behind Jackson Glenn's two-run blast over the centerfield wall in the third inning. The homer was Glenn's second of the day and 14th of the season for a Patriot offense that ranks 10th in the country in big flys.

Peyton Sherlin entered in the fifth inning and made quick work of the Bradley offense. The lefty carded five punch outs against just 10 batters faced. From that point, a Sosa RBI in the fifth and an Andrew Benefield solo blast in the sixth would win the day for DBU.

DAN HEEFNER ON THE WIN
"We had to win it, and Rhett Kouba has been outstanding for us ever since he entered the starting lineup. He did a super job, and Peyton Sherlin did a really nice job for us at the end there... We had some runs come across and were able to do enough to win."
