THE RUNDOWN
A
Rachel Allen goal 89 seconds into top-ranked DBU's match against Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday night in Shawnee, Oklahoma, set the tone for a 4-0 win for the Patriots over the Bison. Two goals in each half for No. 1 DBU (4-0) lifted the Patriots to a 4-0 start to begin the 2022 season as four different players scored for DBU including Allen,
Sophia Schrock,
Haley Roberson, and
Kaleigh Naizer.
Allen, an All-Region defender last year as a freshman, netted her first career goal just 1:29 into the game. It would be a lead that the Patriots would not relinquish in a dominant performance from start to finish.
At the 25 minute mark,
Sophia Schrock delivered her second goal of the year to hand DBU a commanding 2-0 lead. The Patriots would carry a two-goal advantage into the locker room at the half.
Much like the first half began, DBU struck early again when
Haley Roberson registered her first goal as a Patriot, putting DBU ahead 3-0, just three minutes into the second half. The Patriots' final goal came seven minutes later as
Kaleigh Naizer found the back of the net.
