Martin and Jenkins Qualify for MLF College National Championship

The Patriot Bass Fishing team traveled to Florida this past week to compete in the Abu Garcia Major League Fishing College qualifier on the Harris Chain of Lakes. The Patriot team of Reece Martin and Hunter Jenkins finished in 12th place overall out of the 233-team field and punched their ticket to the Major League Fishing College National Championship.

Martin and Jenkins finished with 18 pounds and seven ounces for the one-day event, and just seven pounds shy of the first place prize. "Our day didn't go quite as we planned it, but we pulled up on our best spot with an hour left to fish and our first two casts we landed a five pounder and an eight pounder," said Martin. Those fish turned our entire day around and set us apart from the rest of the field." Jenkins added, "Overall it was a great tournament and we managed to figure them out in the end. We put in the work and time during practice and it paid off. We are extremely grateful for DBU providing us this opportunity to compete."

Also competing for the Patriots were the teams of Mark Harris and Jacob Witkowski who finished in 120th place overall, as well as Parker Brown and Layton Brown who finished in 156th overall, respectively.

The Patriots will be back in action at the next MLF College event on Lake Havasu in early February.
