THE RUNDOWN
The No. 13 DBU Women's Soccer tied Texas Woman's 1-1 in Wednesday night's match at Pioneer Soccer Park. The Pioneers are currently ranked No. 1 in the LSC standings, and the point scored by Joeli Benson was only the third goal scored on TWU goalkeeper Amanda Farris this season.
A goal was scored in the first minute of both halves with DBU striking first. Joeli Benson was assisted by Annie Severide and Rachel Allen at 1:04 putting the Patriots up 1-0. 9 more attempts were made by the Patriots in the first 45, but none found the back of the net.
The second half began with a goal by TWU's Avery Halee right off the bat. Her shot in the 46th minute made it past DBU goalkeeper Breanna Bowen to tie the score at 1-1. The final 44 minutes were a fight for possession as DBU managed to keep the ball on their attacking half the majority of the time. Nine attempts were made by DBU, and Sophia Schrock had a good look in the 88th minute, but the Patriots were unable to find the winning goal, leaving the score at 1-1.
The final score marked the second draw in conference play for both teams, each earning a point in the LSC rankings.
