THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Tennis team dropped two matches over the weekend to UTPB and Western New Mexico to open Lone Star Conference play at the Arlington Tennis Center. On Friday, the Patriots (10-6, 0-2) fell 5-2 to UTPB (7-3, 2-1) before suffering another 5-2 loss to Western New Mexico (3-4, 1-2) on Saturday.

In the LSC opener versus the Falcons, DBU picked up points in singles play from Grant McKenzie and Fabian Rosales. McKenzie notched a hard-fought win in three sets over Takuma Katsuda at the line 2 position while Rosales also won in three sets over UTPB's Robert Garcia. The Patriots' lone win in doubles came from the tandem of Rosales and Arturo Langle who won, 7-6, and claimed the tie-breaker point, 9-7.

On Saturday versus Western New Mexico, the Patriots picked up a point in doubles action after the teams of Aaron Capone and Matthew Abbey (line 1) along with Rosales and Langle (line 2) each won their matches. In singles, McKenzie once again won his match at the line 2 spot, claiming victory in straight sets over Lachlan Rowling.

DBU HEAD COACH WADE MORGAN ON A TOUGH START TO CONFERENCE PLAY
"We keep finding ourselves in these situations where we can't win matches. I am continually impressed though with the effort and grit that we are playing with. We just need to put it all together. We're confident in our team. We just have to keep working."
