The Patriots won in a 3-0 shutout against the Ouachita Baptist Tigers at Kluck Field in Arkadelphia, Arkansas this afternoon. DBU limited the Tigers to only two shots on goal during the 90 minutes and came out on top after two goals from Hunter Dierlam and one from Jonathan Marquez. Â
DBU and OBU battled for possession in the first 42 minutes of the game until the Patriots drew first blood following a deflected corner kick by Jonathan Marquez in the 43rd minute. Ethan Unger's corner kick connected with Marquez and then the back of the net putting DBU up 1-0 at the close of the first half. The Patriots only allowed three shots by OBU in the first 45 minutes. Â
Less than 10 minutes into the second half, DBU's Hunter Dierlam received a pass from Ethan Unger that he took all the way to the back of the net in the 52nd minute. Dierlam scored again in the 72nd minute after Bruno Correa's cross met him in the box putting the Patriots up 3-0. The Patriot defense was able to hold OBU to just three shots in the last half, and the Tiger offense was unable to match DBU's three goals. Â
