THE RUNDOWN
DBU Volleyball earned its sixth sweep of the season in its win over Cameron at The Burg Center on Saturday. The Lady Patriots have won three matches in a row for the second time this year.
Tied at seven in the first set, the Aggies scored six of the next seven points to go ahead 13-8. DBU responded with a shared offensive as
Delaney Fuller,
Karly Wells, and
Sadie Washburn contributed multiple kills, engineering a 10-2 run to take an 18-15 lead. Cameron broke up the stretch momentarily, but the Lady Patriots took the last four rallies and the first set.
The Aggies challenged again in the opening stages of set two but saw their 9-6 advantage dissolve due to an 8-2 spurt by DBU. Up 14-11, the Lady Patriots fought to maintain their distance from Cameron, extending their lead only to as many as four. Three points from taking the set, DBU saw its lead slip away when the Aggies converted on four straight rallies to move in front 23-22. However, the Lady Patriots answered with three straight to claim the set 25-23.
After two close frames, DBU ran away with the third. Tied at four, the Lady Patriots went on a 6-0 run and later a 5-0 run, thanks in part to three aces by
Jenna McMichael, to widen the gap to 17-7. Cameron could only slow the pace of DBU as the Lady Patriots won the match in three sets.
