Catching Fire: DBU Sweeps Midwestern State, Increases their Set Win Streak to Nine

THE RUNDOWN

Wednesday evening the No. 23 ranked DBU Lady Patriots (9-4, 3-0) dismantled Midwestern State to the tune of a sweep (25-15, 25-17, 25- 22), improving their active win streak to three games. In each of those three wins, the DBU offense has at least a .400 Hit%.

The Lady Patriot offense is steamrolling through its opposition at an alarming rate and is receiving production from a multitude of attackers. Price Reeves ripped off nine kills and one error on ten attempts tonight, good for a .800 Hit%, a season-high mark for the Senior. Lindsey Otero has three consecutive games with five or more kills after posting five this evening. Otero, alongside Reeves, is consistently near the top in offensive efficiency in their locker room, posting a .714 Hit% tonight.

Aryn Walton, fresh off receiving her title of LSC Setter of the Week, posted 31 assists while contributing two solo blocks as well. Walton, Shaylee Shore, and Delaney Fuller all put up two solo blocks this evening. Fuller led the group with 12 kills, continuing to anchor the DBU attack. Carmen Harless came into this contest to contribute from behind the baseline, and she totaled two service aces, which led the team. Fuller, Shore, and Jenna McMichael also contributed one ace each.

The Lady Patriots will do battle with UT Tyler (6-5, 3-0) on Saturday, and the two squads will put their undefeated conference record on the line. Both teams will also hold a three-game winning streak at game-start, as the teams look to carry the momentum they both possess into a key conference win.
