THE RUNDOWN
The No. 25 ranked DBU Lady Patriots dominated Western New Mexico to the tune of a sweep on Friday night (25-15, 25-13, 25-18). Led by the ever-dangerous Delaney Fuller, the Lady Patriot attack was prominent all night. DBU eclipsed the .400 Hit% mark for the fifth time this season, adding a tally to what is already a program record. DBU also held WNM to a Hit% of .062, showcasing their defensive prowess.
In the first set, DBU posted a .591 Hit%, putting on a masterful display of efficiency. Throughout tonight's game, Price Reeves led the DBU side in efficiency, converting on four of her five attack attempts off the bench. Middles Shaylee Shore and Lindsey Otero worked together to post nine kills tonight, and outside hitters Delaney Fuller and Karly Wells combined to put up 20.
The DBU defense put up a stone wall against the WNM offensive efforts. The Lady Patriots posted six blocks, and forced 17 total attack errors from the Lady Mustangs. Shaylee Shore contributed on five of the six DBU blocks (one solo, four assisted), which led the DBU side. Both schools would total six service aces, with Aryn Walton and Daylee Doggett leading the way for DBU with two each.Â
Daylee Doggett notched her 2,000th career dig in tonight's match and led all Lady Patriots with 13. Aryn Walton commanded her offense well this evening, notching 27 assists on the night. Walton also contributed a kill and four digs from the setter position.Â
