The DBU Lady Patriots suffer a loss to the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs in three sets to end their bid for a 2024 Lone Star Conference championship (20-25, 16-25, 22-25). The Lady Patriot offense was kept in check tonight by WTAMU, being held to a .180 hitting percentage compared to the .354 clip they posted against Texas Woman's in the first round.
Despite the loss, Karly Wells flourished in the first and third sets this evening, leading the DBU offense with 11 kills on 25 attempts. Delaney Fuller posted ten of her own but was kept in check by the WTAMU defensive front. The 2024 LSC Player of the Year contributed in other areas, getting up six digs and providing a service ace.Â
Statistical leaders from tonight include Price Reeves who led the group in efficiency, putting down five of her eight swings from the opposite side position. Setter Aryn Walton assisted on 29 of DBU's 33 kills and posted three blocks, which led the team. Libero Daylee Doggett posted 11 digs tonight which was enough to lead the group, Karly Wells followed closely with nine, further stamping her name all over this contest.

The Lady Patriots await their potential selection into the NCAA DII Women's Volleyball Tournament, for a chance to compete in a field of 64 schools. The selections will take place following the conclusion of all 23 conference tournaments. All 23 conference champions will receive an automatic bid into the tournament, and the rest of the 41 schools will be selected via the committee.
