No. 12 DBU Battles MSU Denver to Scoreless Tie

THE RUNDOWN
No. 12 DBU and MSU Denver battled to a scoreless tie at Patriot Soccer Field this evening. The Patriots took a few shot opportunities near the outside of the box, but none found the back of the net.

DBU dominated possession in the first half, making their first shot attempt a minute and a half in. In the first 30 minutes, junior Anne Louthan made four shot attempts and Taylor Tufts attempted four. DBU also controlled set pieces, combining six corner kicks in the first 45 minutes but could not turn any of them into serious offensive threats against the tightly packed MSU Denver defense. With 10 seconds left in the first half, MSU Denver's Jaslyn Sanders charged the goal and made a shot, which deflected off the side post, leading into a scoreless tie at halftime.

In the second half, momentum seemed to flip in the Roadrunner's favor. They controlled possession, keeping the Patriots on their defensive half. Senior goalkeeper Breanna Bowen made four saves in the half, and the Patriot defensive line, anchored by junior Parker Coe and senior Kathryn Mullis, prevented any Roadrunner goals. Taylor Tufts made the final shot of the night in the 86th minute, but the ball was just high of the net. DBU and MSUD battled in the Patriots attacking half until time ran out.
