THE RUNDOWN
A late goal from
Gavyn Rosales in the 80th minute lifted DBU to a thrilling 2-1 win over Texas A&M International on Wednesday night at Dustdevil Soccer Stadium in Laredo. The victory secures the No. 4 seed for the Patriots and grants them home-field advantage in the upcoming Lone Star Conference Quarterfinals.
After a scoreless battle through the first 71 minutes, DBU finally broke through when
Caden Berg found the back of the net, assisted by his brother,
Cason Berg, to give the Patriots the lead. The Dustdevils responded just five minutes later, as Kai Louviere equalized to make it 1–1.
With both teams pressing for the go-ahead goal, Rosales delivered the decisive blow in the 80th minute, finishing off a setup from
Caden Berg to put DBU back on top. The Patriots' defense held firm over the final stretch, fending off a late TAMIU push to seal their seventh win of the season.
