Grant Jay led off the inning by drawing a full-count walk, followed by a Landon Underhill double. Joey Nerat would then clear the bases with a two-RBI double, and Dylan Schlaegel would drive in Nerat with his first collegiate hit.
Luke Pettitte came out of the bullpen to start the fourth inning and cruised through a dominant relief appearance. The Bison had zero answer for Pettitte; across four innings, he struck out five hitters, while not allowing a hit or an earned run.It only took 42 pitches for Pettitte to record 12 outs.
