THE RUNDOWN
The No. 15 ranked DBU Patriots (14-6) fell to the TCU Horned Frogs (15-6) Tuesday night at Horner Ballpark. The Pats move to 2-3 in midweek contests in 2025 but look forward to the beginning of conference play this weekend.Â
Tonight's game would remain at zeros until the bottom of the second, where Chayton Krauss ripped a solo homer to open the scoring and give DBU the early lead.
Borberg would toss a spotless first four innings, before the Patriots added to their 1-0 lead with back-to-back solo home runs in the bottom of the fourth, via Joey Nerat and Jake Bennett.
In the top of the fifth, the Horned Frogs would chase Borberg and force two arms out of the DBU bullpen, as they put up a five spot.
Scoring would halt until the bottom of the seventh, where the Pats would set the table for a Nathan Humphreys RBI single, to shrink the deficit to one.
TCU would respond with a three-run top of the ninth, seemingly putting the contest out of reach.
Nathan Humphreys would launch a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the ninth, but the Pats couldn't muster any more offense, dropping tonight's game 8-5.
