Patriots Show Resilience in Conference Matchups with 7-0 Victory Over Sul Ross State and Narrow Loss to Western New Mexico

THE RUNDOWN
The Dallas Baptist University Patriots had a mixed weekend in men's tennis, with both strong performances and a tough loss. Due to inclement weather, the matches were moved indoors, which shifted the dynamic of the games. Despite the change in conditions, the Patriots showed resilience and determination.

On Friday, DBU faced Sul Ross State in Ennis and dominated the match with a commanding 7-0 victory. The doubles teams of Mariano Guzman and Zach Capone, along with Arturo Beitman and Kell Castleberry, both secured comfortable 6-1 wins. In singles, Arturo Beitman, Alec Rule, Kell Castleberry, Braxton Jett, and Oliver Whittaker all cruised to victories, completing a dominant performance in all aspects of the match.

Saturday's match against Western New Mexico at TCU in Fort Worth was much closer. While the Patriots fell 2-4, they fought hard until the last point. Unfortunately, no DBU team won in doubles, but Matthew Abbey and Alec Langle were able to secure singles victories. Despite the loss, the Patriots' strong fight and determination in the close match showed their resilience and commitment.
Overall, it was a weekend of mixed results for the Patriots. They thoroughly dominated Sul Ross State but faced a tough battle against Western New Mexico, where they came up just short.

DBU HEAD COACH WADE MORGAN ON THE TEAM PERFORMANCE
"Today was tough, we were right there, but I am very proud of the way we fought until the last point. We are getting better, just need to work on closing on big points."
