THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Patriots (34-13, 17-5 CUSA) defeated the Kennesaw State Owls (25-23, 14-7 CUSA) Friday night at Horner Ballpark. Patriot starter Ryan Borberg delivered a Quality Start, throwing six innings and allowing two runs. DBU now holds a 2.5-game lead on the Owls at the top of the CUSA standings.
Both teams were held scoreless in the first, and Borberg struck out the side in order in the top of the second.
In the bottom of the second, Chayton Krauss set the table for a Michael Dattalo RBI single, and the Patriots led 1-0 after two.
Both teams would go scoreless again in the third, and Borberg would toss another three-up, three-down inning in the top of the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth, Chayton Krauss led off the inning with a 405-foot blast over the left field wall. Landon Underhill would later reach on a fielder's choice and come around to score on a Keaton Grady infield single. After four, the Pats led 3-0.
Borberg would concede a run in the top of the fifth, but the DBU bats picked him up in the bottom half. Nathan Humphreys set the table for Chayton Krauss' second homer of the night, a 421-foot laser over the left field wall.
In the sixth, Kennesaw State and DBU exchanged one-run frames. Nathan Humphreys punched a two-out single to score Keaton Grady to make it 6-2 after six innings.
Tyler Schott recorded the first two outs of a scoreless seventh before being lifted for Mason Swinney. 
In the bottom of the seventh, Adam Berghult skied a two-out RBI double that was lost in the Dallas sky, which scoredBen Tryon.
Swinney recorded the first two outs of the eighth inning but allowed two runs before being lifted for Jerrod Jenkins. Jenkins punched out the first hitter he faced to end the inning. DBU led 7-4 after the top of the eighth.
Grady, Jay, and Humphreys went down in order in the bottom of the eighth.
Jenkins would allow a run in the top of the ninth but ultimately slammed the door, striking out two in the ninth while notching his second save of the season.
