Men's Soccer Slotted Fourth in LSC Preseason Poll

The DBU Men's Soccer team has been tabbed to finish fourth in the 2025 Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's coaches, sports information directors, and media representatives.

Midwestern State, the defending LSC champion, earned 16 first-place votes and headlines the poll as the preseason favorite. St. Mary's claimed 13 first-place votes to secure the No. 2 spot, while St. Edward's received three first-place nods and was picked third.

The Patriots return a veteran core of 18 players from last year's squad that finished fifth in the conference standings with a 4-3-3 mark in league play. While DBU will look to replace the production of graduated forward Peyton Voelker — the program's all-time leading scorer and the reigning LSC Forward of the Year — the Patriots bring back a proven offensive threat in senior striker Gavyn Rosales, who enters his final season ranked fourth on DBU's all-time goals list (13) and sixth in assists (8).

Defensively, the Patriots are anchored by Evan Lupo, a Second Team All-LSC selection a year ago, while the midfield is steadied by the experience of Leo Larson, who has started 46 matches across three seasons in a DBU uniform.

Head Coach Jess Jobe also welcomes a highly touted recruiting class of 19 newcomers, featuring 11 transfers with collegiate experience and eight true freshmen looking to make an immediate impact.

The Patriots kick off the 2025 campaign on the road at UT Tyler on Thursday, September 4, before returning to Patriot Soccer Field for their home opener against Colorado Christian on Thursday, September 11.
